Solar for the "do it yourselfer" thanks to Westinghouse and Lowes!!!

Westinghouse Solar in an effort to promote photovoltaic solar has provided a complete do it your self kit to implement grid based solar panels on your house. This is  the latest AC current technology panel       with a built in micro inverter. It allows the home owner to tap into their  breaker box with a dedicated breaker using existing electrical  codes and standards. It allows you to buy and install  a panel one at       a time and makes the budget easier to implement in stages.

Havre de Grace's Wastewater Treatment Plant working hard to save the bay!!!

You must watch this documentary!!! It highlights the very important steps that Havre de Grace has taken to protect our most valuable resource- WATER! We should all be very proud of our city for taking these important steps to responsibly protect our environment!
A portion of the recent increase in our water bills is necessary to pay the debts incurred to properly upgrade our wastewater treatment facilities. Watch this to get a better understanding of one of the wonderful steps Havre de Grace has taken:

COLOR MARYLAND GREEN art and poetry contest!!

COLOR MARYLAND GREEN is an art and poetry contest designed to inspire Maryland students to enjoy and respect the State’s great outdoors and natural resources. Through the creative use of poetry, art and digital tools, students will express their appreciation for the outdoors and Maryland’s treasured natural resources.
All Maryland students, grades K-12, are eligible to participate -- one entry per student only, please.  (Submissions from children of Maryland Department of Natural Resources employees will NOT be eligible for prizes).
Entries may be submitted individually or in bundles through the classroom.  

Deadline for entries is November 1, 2011. Winners will be announced by December 31, 2011.

renewable energy, waste reduction, and other sustainability initiatives. He has 20 years of project management experience in
manufacturing. Jeff serves on the Company’s Corporate Sustainability Committee and is a member of the Baltimore County Sustainability
Network. Jeff has both a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Maryland.
